Hey buddy, you are the man version of "Jan Brady". I don't know if anyone else agrees but, there it is; I said it...Jan, you are annoying. Please don't get any more ideas for youtube videos, just write a book. Thanks Jan.

You are amazing, I'm going to watch each and every one of these videos.
Also the fact that you read that entire thing out (and typed it) makes this whole series even more impressive.

100% agree.
'Evidence' (like all information) is in the eye of the beholder. Interpretation is everything, and everyone, the media, the governments, companies, pressure groups, etc try to put their tweak on it.
Which is why people must find out for themselves. Read the books, articles, watch the videos, do the research, see what convinces you. Make up YOUR mind. Don't follow dogma, people or a grid.
Evidence, like democracy, is not perfect, but there's nothing better, nothing more effective.

Ok you find this grid theory weak, but at the same time, you rely on "evidence". Let me tell you that evidence can, and its always, manipulated, so also it isnt an effective way.
Neuromancer4242 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Nonsense.
A knife FUNCTIONS for its PURPOSE (cutting). This is so irrespective of whether you cut bread or people.
The grid logic does NOT FUNCTION for its PURPOSE (argumentative logic), because the conclusion simply does not follow from the reasoning, as I have shown. This is so whether you use it to prove GCC, Marxism or asteroid insurance.
Again, a conclusion can only be made on EVIDENCE, not on 'just-in-case" reasoning. Wonderingmind said as much and that is why these videos are here.

You cant say that you think that the grid its a weak theory only cause it can be used with other purposes. Thats like say that you dont use a knife for anything cause you can kill someone with it.
There are certain rules that a problem should have to use it in a effective way, like: the problem should have evidence presented from both sides, the possible solutions should be things that reduce the damage caused by the problem, etc.
Neuromancer4242 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
sorry, but - No.
the grid is NOT the logical solution to non-man made threats.
EXAMPLE: someone tries to sell you asteroid insurance, to insure your house in case it's hit by a meteorite (this is certainly beyond human control). According to the grid 'just-in-case' logic you should take it. YET if you look at the actual probabilities of a meteorite hitting your house, taking out insurance makes no sense. Hence, actually looking at evidence to figure out probabilities is important.
maurolarahuerta (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
I mean.. yes, it CAN be used... but the grid its a logical solution that brigns good things ONLY when there is 1 axe that you cant control on any absolute possible way (like climate disaster). Things like terrorism and wars have many ways to deal with (diplomacy, education, forums, international courts, etc). If someone use this grid to solve "human-to-human" things, will lead only to paranoic reactions. |
